Pablo Picasso Biography
Born in Malaga, Spain, the son of a painter, Pablo Picasso, like Mozart, was a child prodigy and remains one of the masters of all time. As a young artist, he lived in poverty in a little artist community in Montparnasse, and he identified himself with the down and out in Paris. In 1901, he did drawings in Madrid and Paris, and began signing his works “Picasso.” 1919 was the year of his first lithograph, and, of course, his famous 100 copper plates in the Vollard series.
